BIOGRAPHY
Each week more than 1.5 million viewers tune in to watch The Showbiz Report - written, produced and hosted by Nicky Greenwall.
As South Africa's best known entertainment TV journalists Nicky has conducted one-on-one interviews with some of the biggest names in showbiz including; Johnny Depp, Leonardo Di Caprio, Charlize Theron, Angelina Jolie, P Diddy, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Keira Knightly to name a few. As E-news's dedicated entertainment journalist she has reported live from The Academy Awards, The Cannes Film Festival, Nelson Mandela's 46664 concert, his birthday celebrations and several other high profile events in and around South Africa.
Over the last 5 years Nicky has appeared on the covers of a number of South African magazines and she has been featured in the South African editions of Glamour, Elle, InStyle, Cosmopolitan, Shape, Femina, Fair Lady, Heat, Seventeen, Cleo and FHM. She was nominated in the 2003 Elle TV Style Awards, the 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008 People Magazine Crystal Awards for Best Television Presenter, and was the recipient of The Most Stylish Presenter Award at the 2004 Style Awards in Johannesburg. She was also listed on FHM's Hot 100 and was named one of the most successful people under thirty by Y Magazine. In 2007 Nicky was chosen to represent international hair care brand Pantene in their South African TV campaign.
EARLY YEARS
Nicky Greenwall was born in Cape Town on the 11th March 1979. After graduating from Rustenburg Girls High School with academic honours - she enrolled at The Red and Yellow School of Advertising to study Art Direction. At 19, Nicky graduated second in her class and went on to work for the country's top ad agencies among them TBWA Hunt Lascaris and The Jupiter Drawing Room.
ETV
At the age of 23 Nicky presented a proposal to ETV outlining a plan to improve their coverage of arts and entertainment news. In September that year she was offered the position as Arts Anchor for E-News Live at 7. In October she was offered the opportunity to host a late night entertainment show called "Nightlife" which she also co-produced and wrote. "Nightlife" aired in October 2002 and became one of the most watched late night programs in the country. In March 2004 the show moved to the prime time slot at 7:30 and went live.
After a brief break in 2004 Nicky began working on a proposal for a new dedicated entertainment news program. In January 2005 the first episode of "The Showbiz Report" aired at 7:30pm every Thursday. After just 6 months the show was moved to the prime time slot on Saturday at 7:30 where it now enjoys an audience of over 1.5 million viewers every week
In 2007 Nicky proposed a ten part documentary series to ETV which would document the rise to fame of some of South Africa's most recognisable showbiz personalities. She wrote, produced and co-directed the project. The first episode of "Behind the Name" went to air in September 2007.
In 2008 Nicky joined South Africa's first 24 hour news network - The E-News Channel. As the channel’s entertainment correspondent she makes contributions to bulletins on a daily basis.
In April 2009 Nicky launched her own Production Company - Greenwall Productions. The company currently produces The Showbiz Report, The Style Report which was launched in 2009, The Tech Report which aired in 2010 and the soon to be aired Inside Art.
WORK BEYOND E
Apart from producing, directing and writing her own television shows - Nicky is also a published journalist and illustrator. She has contributed to The Sunday Times, Glamour Magazine, Men's Health, Seventeen, Good Taste, and Elle and her radio contributions have been featured on SA's national broadcaster 5fm and the BBC's World Service. As an MC she has hosted a number of high profile functions including The Elle TV Style Awards, and Glamour Magazine's Oscar Party.
Nicky currently lives and works in Cape Town.
